There has been a lot of media attention around treatments being marketed for “vaginal rejuvenation” – from coverage on the Real Housewives to local news stations.  So what’s the real story with this procedure, is it safe and does it really work?  There are multiple laser and energy-based treatment manufacturers that have jumped on the bandwagon, offering technologies from radio frequency to laser resurfacing, with claims to offer vaginal rejuvenation.  The FDA recently notified seven device manufacturers (Alma Lasers, BTL Industries, Cynosure, InMode, Sciton, Thermigen and Venus Concept) of their concerns about inappropriate marketing of their devices for vaginal rejuvenation procedures.  However, there are safe alternatives available that are FDA cleared for gynecologic treatment and have been shown to improve women’s intimate health.  At Belle Vous Medi Spa, we chose to offer Cutera’s Juliet laser for this very reason.

Why are we focused on this issue to begin with?  The American Society of Plastic Surgeons attributes the growing interest in “vaginal rejuvenation” like procedures to the often negative changes women experience as a result of childbearing, hormonal fluctuations and aging.  The undesirable effect of these changes may impact a woman’s quality of life – including vaginal laxity, stress urinary incontinence, loss of vaginal lubrication, a decrease in sensation and loss of tone of the labia majora.  While hormone therapy may help some women manage their symptoms, those that have battled certain cancers may not have the same options available.

Belle Vous Medi Spa is pleased to be the only practice offering the Juliet vaginal laser in the Boise metro area.  The Juliet is a minimally invasive, no-downtime treatment that utilizes Er:YAG laser technology to deliver two modes of energy to the vaginal area. The first mode stimulates the remodeling of collagen and the second mode stimulates the damaged tissue. As a result, patients experience improved sexual function and an overall improvement in vaginal health.

Juliet treats burning, itching, dryness and painful intercourse in the vaginal wall typically associated with diminished estrogen production and post-partum changes. It is often the ideal treatment option for women experiencing menopause who have signs and symptoms associated with genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Additionally, women who have undergone breast cancer treatments or are interested in vaginal cosmetic improvements including tone and flexibility can benefit greatly from Juliet treatment.

The in-office procedure typically takes approximately 10 minutes to treat internally and externally in the same treatment session. Patients often feel and see improvement after the very first treatment, with optimal results seen after three treatments.

What do patients say after undergoing treatment with the Juliet?

“I decided to try the new Juliet treatment. I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure and I can’t believe how good the results have been for me. It improved my sexual life and I don’t have any problems with accidental urination.” – ML

“I was uncertain about all the changes happening to my body and asked my physician about it. He recommended the Juliet procedure as an alternative to hormone therapy. I noticed an improvement soon after the first treatment and continuing improvement even after the last treatment. I highly recommend Juliet. It has restored my confidence and renewed intimacy in my life.” – JW

“I underwent the Juliet treatment to improve dryness and pain during intercourse. I was extremely surprised when my urinary issues improved as well. Now I can cough and sneeze again without a problem. It also decreased my sense of urgency to urinate.” – PM

“After I gave birth to my children, my body changed and sex life was not as satisfactory. My healthcare provider recommended the Juliet laser. The effects were immediately visible for me and improved over time. One month after the treatment, I still notice continuous improvements in tightness. It’s made a huge difference, I feel like I’m 18 again, which is great.” – LT
